Description

Azurite Gemstone with Macrame Necklaces

Artechaski created these beautiful, handmade azurite gemstone with macrame necklaces. Each pendant features a one-of-a-kind design that showcases an azurite gemstone set in macrame.

To begin with, these pendants feature a unique weave of colorful macrame for the setting.  As part of the customizations of each unique design, decorative curvatures of macrame encircle the gemstone to hold it firmly and securely.  Each one-of-a-kind creation also includes various additional macrame features – such as embedded beads and floral patterns.  Next, for the centerpiece of each pendant, our craftsman selects a fine, polished  azurite gemstone.

Azurite is a semi-precious gemstone that, in pure form is a sky-blue color.  In fact, “sky blue” is a synonym for the noun “azure.”  Interestingly, at its root, azure comes from a French mistranslation of the ancient Persian word “lajevard.”  Lajevard, in turn, was the name of an area with abundant supply of two of our blue gemstones – azurite and lapis lazuli.

While azurite is always blue, it may appear pale, vibrant, or dark.   Also, many azurite stones contain mixes of another copper carbonate stone – malachite.  Thus, the coloration of each of our azurite gemstones exhibits a unique combination of blues and greens.

Additional azurite characteristics include the following:

  • Due to hardness and heat sensitivity, pure azurite stones are difficult to cut
  • Mixes with malachite – or azurmalachite – are more common and add to the stone’s durability
  • The US southwest, France, Australia, and Peru are some of the places with prominent azurite deposits
