Next is an ammonite stone fossil.  These unique fossils come from the remains of the extinct marine mollusk animals.  Science ages ammonoids from 409 to 66 million years ago.

Notably, the stone has a convex shape when observed from the front and a characteristic spiral pattern.  Also, the name ammonite was inspired by the spiral shape of the fossilized shell.  In writings by Pliny the Elder around 79 AD, the name ammonis cornua (“horns of Ammon“) is used.  This relates to the Egyptian god Ammon (Amun) who is typically depicted wearing rams’ horns.
